Karen CyBulski

Principal Survey Researcher

Karen CyBulski has expertise in survey design, implementation, and oversight. She manages and a range of multimode survey activities, including web, mail, and computer-assisted telephone interviewing. She also provides quality assurance as well as technical assistance on random assignment procedures and protocols.

Currently, she serves as the project director for the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services, an annual survey of approximately 17,000 substance abuse treatment facilities in the United States and its territories. CyBulski is also the survey director for a project for the Rehabilitation Research and Training Centers, which is examining individual-level characteristics related to employment among individuals with disabilities. As survey director for the Youth Transition Demonstration, she oversees the design and data collection of baseline, 12-month, and 36-month surveys and provides technical oversight for survey collection and administration of this project to help young people with disabilities transition from school to work.

Before joining Mathematica in 1995, CyBulski served as a project manager for the Alcohol Research Center at Rutgers University and was a research associate for the Obesity Research Center at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York, NY. She has published widely in the survey and methods literature and presents at many professional conferences. She is president of the New Jersey chapter of the American Association for Public Opinion Research and has been named in Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. CyBulski holds an M.S. in psychology-behavioral neuroscience from Rutgers University.
